Focus On Rapture

Rapture-ready watchers as believers who are daily expecting the return of the Lord Jesus Christ have the characteristic of watchfulness and readiness. They are in constant expectation of the next event in God’s divine agenda, which is the rapture of the church.

The original Disciples of Christ and those who followed them did that. In these distressful closing days of the end-time, many believers have given up anticipating the return of the Lord.

Expectation of the return of Jesus was the greatest hope that propelled the early church to turn the world of their time upside down. The reason for this lethargy may be ignorance of, or misinterpretation of scriptural provisions on the matter.

Many believers use Mt 24:36 as excuse for not expecting the second coming of Christ and of rapture in particular: ‘But of that day and hour no man knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.’ They forget that when Jesus made that statement He had not been glorified, but now He has and is seated at the right hand of God Almighty awaiting the fullness of His Body. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil 2:5).

Those who have the mind of Christ are truly one with Him; they will know within a short space of time when the rapture will take place. Rapture will not overtake every believer by surprise.

A privileged few will know something about the event just like Simeon, Anna, Elizabeth and John the Baptist knew in advance about the first coming of Christ.

Rapture-ready watchers will have an idea of the imminence of the event.  Believers who qualify to participate in the rapture may not know the date or hour but will have an inner witness in their spirit about the sounding of the last trumpet. They will know the times and the seasons according to 1 Thess 5:1. If you do not know the times and the seasons you may still participate in the rapture but you are not likely to be part of the Bride of Christ.

The Lord knows the harm it would cause saints in human flesh to know the day and hour of His coming but those who are knowledgeable of end-time events will not abuse the privilege but rather comfort and encourage believers in Christ to look up to the heavens for their final redemption as they see the day approaching.
