Offences Must Come
“Then said He unto the disciples, it is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! (Luke 17:1)
In this present evil world offences must arise. There is nothing anyone can do about it. Everyone has options when offended: you can retaliate (it is natural to do so); you can ignore (not always easy to do in real life situations); you can store it in your subconscious mind and bid your time, or you can forgive. Naturally, it is not easy to forgive. The grace of God that has brought salvation to all men can also assist in forgiveness.
For the saved, grace instills the spirit of forgiveness on the offended to receive mercy for if you do not forgive men their trespasses our heavenly Father has no ground for forgiving your own trespasses. Since no one is perfect, it means everyone causes offence to someone else. What you sow is what you reap.
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Mt 6:9-15)
Receive grace for forgiveness in Jesus’ name!
