CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST
CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST
It has been said that two of the most powerful human drives are the desire to live long and enjoy life. But Jesus said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” (John 12:24).
Joy comes from knowing that the infallible God is in total control of one’s life. Easier said than done, you’d say!
When a person gives his or her life to Christ he or she is deemed to “have been crucified with Christ.” I didn’t feel that way when I became a Christian. The idea of ‘dying’ while alive was a bit strange. Along the way however I did – I was ready to go home without notice. Surprisingly, things changed. I began to ‘enjoy’ life as never before. There is true liberty in surrender.
Unless one has resolved to give up one’s physical life on demand there is a level of freedom and joy one cannot attain in this life. Real enjoyment comes from total surrender to the Lord. That was what the original Apostles and those who followed them did.
If you are still in control of some aspects of your life, you are limiting God in those areas. Total surrender is the key to the success that counts with God.
